Nicki had one of the most successful junior careers on record.  She is one of only 11 riders to win both the ASPCA Maclay National Championship and the AHSA/Medal Championship, two of the United States’ most prestigious titles for junior riders. She retired the Best Child Rider Titles as Harrisburg and Devon, and was Best Child Rider at Washington International Horse Show twice. She made her Grand Prix debut on the 1993 Florida Circuit qualifying for the American Invitational as the youngest rider.  She has competed for the United States at 6 World Cup Finals and was the highest placed American in 2001.  In 2002 she represented the United States at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain.  She is the proud mother of daughter Sophie and son Ty.

After giving birth to her first child, Sophie,  Nicki returned to competition in 1998 with two Grand Prix wins including a victory in the $50,000 Budweiser Grand Prix of Devon. She has continued to succeed on the Grand Prix circuit, with several wins in 1999 and five Grand Prix wins in 2000.

In 2005, Simpson won the $150,000 Ford Grand Prix at the Desert Circuit VI, and the Ariat Grand Prix in Indio, California.  She also had top placing in the $75,000 Bayer/USET Benefit Grand Prix of Indio and the $75,000 Grand Prix of Del Mar.

She trained Eva Gonda as a junior to win the USET West Coast Talent Search, Junior Hunter Horse of the Year “Doubletake”, and guided her to many jumper wins. She also trained Eva while competing in Europe and at Spruce Meadows.

Nicki owned and operated her own stable “NAS Stables” where she trained several junior and adult riders, before taking a position with the Gonda Family at El Campeon Farms in CA.

Nicki has been competing on the East Coast for 2006 – 2008 with wins in Wellington, Lexington, Capital Challenge and Washington. Summer of 2008 has been spent in Europe competing on the Super League tour.
